The Last Word

"Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!" -Revelation 16:17

Finality rests solely with our Lord Jesus Christ. Just as the completion of God's wrath, poured out upon Christ, was marked by similar wording - it is finished*; so too there is an end and completion of God's judgment upon humanity. The former judgment seals a gift of salvation to those who believe and cling to the hope of Christ. The latter marks the completion of God's judgment on mankind. Since those who endure this final judgment will have purposefully rejected that first declaration of God's judgment on our behalf, poured out upon the suffering Christ, they will be required to pay the full debt - a debt that culminates in eternal separation from God. Take joy, believer, the finality of God's wrath born by Christ on our behalf and pronounced complete in His declaration, "It is finished!"
