The temple of God

"But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple." -Revelation 21:22

There is no need for the ornate religious edifice in God's new kingdom. In the present age we have sought to build mighty and dramatic buildings hoping that they might keep God in our consciousness. The bigger, the better!  It's almost as if we are afraid we may forget. We have convinced ourselves that if we can look to a building or some other physical reminder of God, if we can remember Him in our thoughts, then He will remember to be near to us. But, Christ promised that He would never leave or forsake us. That promise was never contingent on us. The fact is, God dwells within the believer presently by His Holy Spirit and it is glorious to know that He will be with us in His kingdom as our eternal and most perfect place of worship.
